Dark days

It is heartbreaking to see people around the world are involved in wars and they hurt each other but it is devastating to see your own fellow countrymen attack one another. I believe these past few days I have seen enough blood and violence for my lifetime but I am scared by the thought of seeing more. It has been a very distressing week so far. I have never followed the news so closely. Since the war between Iraq and US started, I was worried for a sudden attack of US or other countries to Iran. I never thought this would happen. I never thought my people would be beaten and shot in Iran by their own compatriots, at least not this way. We deserve better than this…

I never thought these very different days would arrive in my country and I would be sitting following every thing far far away...Regardless of how bitter or good the news are,they always bring tears into my eyes. Whatever happens at the end of this new chapter something will change forever in Iran.

Things that really matter

I remember once when I was in school, couple of friends suggested skipping the class and going to see a movie. Of course the nerd in me couldn't handle the stress of missing a lecture. So I announced that I wouldn't go with them but I would gladly go to class and share my notes with whoever likes to have them later. I don't recall the content of that lecture nor do I recall the course but I never forget that I didn't watch 'the Banu Ordibehesht' with my friends.

I was very excited about listing to her. When I bought the ticket, I told to myself that was an early birthday present for me. I went for the talk to be inspired and to figure out why this woman was so successful as she was. Although I never regret going to that talk (since I learned one or two things), the talk was not as inspiring as I hoped. I had heard better talks before. She is not one of those people that I call gifted public speakers. She was witty and smart but didn’t really do it for me. However, what I learned was that I can be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. Happy Nowruz 1390!!!

Happy Persian New Year, Sal-e noe mobarak! I set my 7-seen table finally this morning. I want everyone to notice my happy mug which contains some wheat cat grass. The one I try to make from lentil, didn't turn out very well since I remembered to start doing it 10 days ago. The weather today was surprisingly amazing. I received some chocolate as eidi (which was a nice surprise too and from someone whom I was trying to be mad at), played squashed with some friends, then went swimming. As I was swimming in the quiet pool, I started thinking that I should be very grateful for this nice facility on campus and should take more advantage of it. I was happy but by the end of the day, I couldn't help it wonder about some stuff in my life. More thinking and analyzing does not help either; Some cry does though. At least I feel better now.
