All you need is love!

If you have not seen an amazing movie lately and you would like to watch one, try watching the Intouchables . Based on a true story, it is food for thoughts, warms your heart and makes you smile. It is one of those movies that brings you all sort of feelings; sadness, happiness, and gratefulness.

"Time to grab life by the balls."

I came across this TV series called “The Big C”. I have only watched couple of episodes so far but I like what I have watched. It is a story of a woman who has diagnosed with terminal cancer and trying to shake up her life and change what she can change. So far, her compulsive behaviour and her wild attitude has made this series very entertaining and at the same time makes you realize to not take your life for granted; don’t let time/life pass you by; and enjoy while there's more grains of sand left in your hourglass.

In the Mood for Love (2000)

I am not very impressed with the movie but the soundtracks were so good.

The King’s Speech

Image
Colin Firth and Helena Carter, both, are well deserving of Oscar for their roles in the King’s Speech. It is a must-see movie. I have not been so excited about a movie since the Reader. Besides, Colin Firth is always and will be Mr. Darcy. (Spoiler Alert!) Don't read this section if you want to watch the movie. This is a good movie about good people. It is about support, friendship, healthy marriage, and staying strong. Also, some part of the movie reminded me of the darkest moments in human's lives; I mean a declaration of war.

Under the Tuscan Sun

"Between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come."

Guilty pleasure

I have started watching the Tudors . I have always been a fan of historical fictions/movies but by watching this, I don’t even learn much about the history because not everything is based on the actual story. Every episode is very long but I can’t help it. I could be doing so many useful things instead of watching this. The fact that Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, is so good looking (in the movie!) is not helping either!

Everything starts with The Big Bang

has become one of my favourite shows recently.

Victor / Victoria

Crazy world, full of crazy contradictions like a child; First you drive me wild and then you win my heart with your wicked art; One minute tender, gentle, Then temperamental as a summer storm. Just when I believe your heart's getting warmer You're cold and you're cruel and I like a fool try to cope, Try to hang on to hope. Crazy world, every day the same old roller coaster ride; But I've got my pride I won't give in Even though I know I'll never win; Oh, how I love this crazy world.

"Run mad as often as you choose, but do not faint." by Jane Austen

That's it. I'm done with all my stupid thoughts and grieving. I'm done wondering why my life is not progressing the way I envision it. I'll stop being my worst critic. I must avoid going toward things that are not in my best interest. Whatever is going inside this head needs to be filtered but you shouldn't give up. I just need to work harder and try to be happier. I need to stop wasting my energy; I do NOT want to faint. The race is long and no one said life would be easy.

We shall touch the Happy Isles!

Short version of Ulysses from Frasier. "It may be that the gulfs will wash us down; It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And though we are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are... Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will; To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

The Jane Austen Book Club!

If you are a fan of Jane Austen and looking for a good chick flick movie, The Jane Austen Book Club is for you. I loved this movie. I have to say it is one of the best movies I have seen recently. I am so inspired that I'm planning to read all Jane Austin’s books that I have not read yet and reread those that I have.

Chanel

Image
Coco before Chanel is such a wonderful movie featuring Audrey Tautou, the talented French actress. Gabrielle Chanel had a very interesting personality. With a blend of elegance, talent, and very headstrong personality, she established a business and a legacy of her own. You might need some Kleenex as you are watching this movie. "The best thing about love is making love. Too bad you need a man for that." by Gabrielle Chanel p.s. No offense to anyone, but I just thought that was really funny.

Joyeux Noël!

It is the best time of the year. Beautiful Christmas decorations can be seen everywhere. You can hear Christmas songs from every corner. Red, green, and gold with the pinch of snow makes a prefect picture for this season. You can feel the energy in the air. It is hard to describe the feelings that sometimes can get to you in this season. Then, there are the Christmas movies that add to this joyful and sometimes touchy time. Joyeux Noël has been one of my favourite movies. I had to go back to my older posts to make sure that I haven’t written about this movie before. I surprised myself for being quiet about this movie till now. This movie is about World War I  but if you are pacifist, you will enjoy watching this movie. For the first time, I saw someone actually value humanity above the idea of being patriotic. This movie lays out the reality, the power of politicians over nations. If you do watch it, I hope you enjoy it. Be happy and jolly!

Frasier

I'm watching a lot of Frasier lately. It's been one of my favourite shows but I never watch the whole thing. Now I have started from season one. These two brothers with their snobby attitude really crack me up. And then, there is their down to earth father. Frasier got ride of his father chair because it was old, ugly and it didn't match his apartment decor. Now, he is trying to replace it with something that his father likes.  Martin Crane (the father): " Okay, I'll tell you what chair I want. I want the chair I was sitting in when I watched Neil Armstrong take his first step on the Moon. And when the US hockey team beat the Russians in the '80 Olympics. I want the chair I was sitting in the night you called me to tell me I had a grandson. I want the chair I was in all those nights, when your mother used to wake me up with a kiss after I'd fallen asleep in front of the television. Y'know I still fall asleep in it. And every once in a while, when I w...

The Picture of Love

This is a very cute animated film, produced by number of students in France. What stood out to me was the beautiful scenery. I think the story is happening in Santorini. If you like calamari, you shouldn't watch it because next time you want to eat it, you would have a hard time. The Oktapodi official website is here .

Slumdog Millionaire

Image
Slumdog Millionaire (2008), photo from here . Slumdog Millionaire is a blend of sadness and humour. It takes you to India from Bombay’s slums to the beautiful Taj Mahal. It tells the life story of two brothers, Jamal and Salim; the darkest times and the most overwhelming moments of their lives. It is about the ups and downs of growing up in India or better yet surviving. I went to see it with no expectation and it turned out to be one of the best movies I have seen this past year. I was truly touched. The movie is only based on a novel but it breaks my heart just by knowing that this story is the reality of life for so many children. p.s. I wanted to respond to all the comments but I realized that I was away for too long. So I thank everyone for their comments in the last two posts.

Mamma Mia!

Image
Mamma Mia! I've been waiting for Mamma Mia! , the movie, for so long. Unfortunately, I've never seen the play. I know the movie can’t replace it but it is better than nothing. I'll be watching it tonight :D

Enchanted

I went to see "Enchanted" couple of weeks ago. I went to see this movie with no expectation what so ever. But it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable movies have watched recently. I was laughing or smiling all through the movie. It was truly enchanting. Wonderful songs, lyrics and smart story line, it invites you to the most original Disney fairytale. It compares the magical Disney world that I heard about when I was only 5-6 years old with the real life I encounter today. I had the best time. If you are in depressing mood, I suggest watch this movie. Ever Ever After Storybook endings Fairy tales coming true Deep down inside We wanna believe they still do In our secretest heart Its our favorite part of the story Let's just admit we all wanna make it to Ever ever after If we just don't get it our own way Ever ever after It may only be a wish away Start a new fashion Wear your heart on your sleeve Sometimes you reach what's realest by making believe Unafrai...
