By living with others, you get to know yourself better. I am who I am and I don't want to change some stuff about myself. I like myself for those qualities that some people think they can never find in others.

That's exactly what I believe about myself; but you know what? They will do their best to modify you and change you to what THEY think is ideal!!
That's why I sometimes hate people...

I remember I've told someone that I like a package whenever I assert I like a person.
I believe in some of my characteristics and traits that construct an entity called shobeir but I myself try to modify and edit the entity...
Normally annually I ask my friends what they think about me.. I ask them to criticize me and then I think and work on them I may change some or let some of my traits unaltered but I guess its always good to get feedback from others...All in all who cares about "they"!

Too bad I can't elaborate on what happened and tell you the whole story. This is a blog and is open to everyone. So I don't feel comfortable by going into details. The problem was not much about changing me. It was more about not believing in human good nature. As much as we, people, share similarities, we've different values. I'm not talking about cultural differences. I'm talking about the way we look at the world in general. Anyway my point is that I've so many flaws and weaknesses which are the cause of major disappointments in my life. However, that incident helped me to understand there are some qualities that I do have and I should be proud of.

Shobeir, I do envy you for having such good friends that give you feedbacks. I've tried something like this before but it never worked for me. They pointed out at the qualities that I was already aware of or they were too polite and didn't want to hurt my feelings so they insisted on changing the subject.
So,,, good for you and hold on to those friends.

Things that really matter

I remember once when I was in school, couple of friends suggested skipping the class and going to see a movie. Of course the nerd in me couldn't handle the stress of missing a lecture. So I announced that I wouldn't go with them but I would gladly go to class and share my notes with whoever likes to have them later. I don't recall the content of that lecture nor do I recall the course but I never forget that I didn't watch 'the Banu Ordibehesht' with my friends.

I was very excited about listing to her. When I bought the ticket, I told to myself that was an early birthday present for me. I went for the talk to be inspired and to figure out why this woman was so successful as she was. Although I never regret going to that talk (since I learned one or two things), the talk was not as inspiring as I hoped. I had heard better talks before. She is not one of those people that I call gifted public speakers. She was witty and smart but didn’t really do it for me. However, what I learned was that I can be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. Happy Nowruz 1390!!!

Happy Persian New Year, Sal-e noe mobarak! I set my 7-seen table finally this morning. I want everyone to notice my happy mug which contains some wheat cat grass. The one I try to make from lentil, didn't turn out very well since I remembered to start doing it 10 days ago. The weather today was surprisingly amazing. I received some chocolate as eidi (which was a nice surprise too and from someone whom I was trying to be mad at), played squashed with some friends, then went swimming. As I was swimming in the quiet pool, I started thinking that I should be very grateful for this nice facility on campus and should take more advantage of it. I was happy but by the end of the day, I couldn't help it wonder about some stuff in my life. More thinking and analyzing does not help either; Some cry does though. At least I feel better now.
