Another way of saying 'Do Not Enter' - Oct 2009
 
Fall is settling gracefully on the city but I can’t enjoy it as much as I would like. I always detested when others would talk or decide for me. To me being part of a union is a similar experience. I know there are advantageous in being part of the union. It provides certain job security but does it really useful for all type of professions at any different levels.

If you are highly specialized in the line of work you are doing and you are also good at it, there is no reason for you to be dependent on your union. And if your employer doesn’t value you and your job, it is even better for you to leave. I am too cynical to view the unionized environment as a system that makes my life easier. The only thing they do is to attract more slackers. Then, there will be only those who work hard no matter what have to pay the price. We should let people to shape their own future.

That sucks but look at it the positive way.
There are so many occasion that people will decide for you. So now that you are stuck in this situation, learn how to cope with it better.

and if I don't know you, I'd like to thank you for your comment. Yes, I agree with you. If changing the situation and circumstance is out of our control, we need to learn how to cope with it.

Things that really matter

I remember once when I was in school, couple of friends suggested skipping the class and going to see a movie. Of course the nerd in me couldn't handle the stress of missing a lecture. So I announced that I wouldn't go with them but I would gladly go to class and share my notes with whoever likes to have them later. I don't recall the content of that lecture nor do I recall the course but I never forget that I didn't watch 'the Banu Ordibehesht' with my friends.

I was very excited about listing to her. When I bought the ticket, I told to myself that was an early birthday present for me. I went for the talk to be inspired and to figure out why this woman was so successful as she was. Although I never regret going to that talk (since I learned one or two things), the talk was not as inspiring as I hoped. I had heard better talks before. She is not one of those people that I call gifted public speakers. She was witty and smart but didn’t really do it for me. However, what I learned was that I can be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. Happy Nowruz 1390!!!

Happy Persian New Year, Sal-e noe mobarak! I set my 7-seen table finally this morning. I want everyone to notice my happy mug which contains some wheat cat grass. The one I try to make from lentil, didn't turn out very well since I remembered to start doing it 10 days ago. The weather today was surprisingly amazing. I received some chocolate as eidi (which was a nice surprise too and from someone whom I was trying to be mad at), played squashed with some friends, then went swimming. As I was swimming in the quiet pool, I started thinking that I should be very grateful for this nice facility on campus and should take more advantage of it. I was happy but by the end of the day, I couldn't help it wonder about some stuff in my life. More thinking and analyzing does not help either; Some cry does though. At least I feel better now.
