Last days of summer

Have you ever heard the saying "you can’t buy love"? Well! apparently that is a lie. It seems that the cat and I are getting along pretty well. I give her treats every time I feel she is out of control. Now she loves me and I don’t have to worry about any cat hissing which could be really frightening.

On a different note, I heard some outrageous remarks from some people. They believe that a university is a better place when they are no students around. How can you work in a place and not liking the people you work with and still enjoy your job?

Our beautiful campus seems like a ghost town now. It is too quiet. I can’t wait for the first day of classes when all those students march into the campus. Some of them excited and some of them confused but one thing is for sure and that is they will bring energy with themselves. I need some fresh and young energy to surround me. I need to recharge my expired batteries. I need the distraction. I never thought I would say that one day but the last days of summer are approaching and I am happy about it.

When I was a student, I used to feel the same...
The last days of summer, were the gates to heaven for me as I had missed all those busy days and friends...

Now, every now and then, there are some moments that I miss those days again; but it seems that the last days of summer are not going to approach anymore...

When I was younger (elementary school student), I didn't want for the summer to end. As I grew older, that changed.
This fall will be the first fall that I'm not gonna back to school as a student - I finished my degree last June :)- but I will be in school anyway because I never left...I'm working in a university now.

You never know Parinaz. You might go back to school for another degree in the future. I know I might!

Of course we are still talking about Canada. It is only in Canada that by the end of August you start talking about winter and thinking about the winter clothing.

Things that really matter

I remember once when I was in school, couple of friends suggested skipping the class and going to see a movie. Of course the nerd in me couldn't handle the stress of missing a lecture. So I announced that I wouldn't go with them but I would gladly go to class and share my notes with whoever likes to have them later. I don't recall the content of that lecture nor do I recall the course but I never forget that I didn't watch 'the Banu Ordibehesht' with my friends.

I was very excited about listing to her. When I bought the ticket, I told to myself that was an early birthday present for me. I went for the talk to be inspired and to figure out why this woman was so successful as she was. Although I never regret going to that talk (since I learned one or two things), the talk was not as inspiring as I hoped. I had heard better talks before. She is not one of those people that I call gifted public speakers. She was witty and smart but didn’t really do it for me. However, what I learned was that I can be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. Happy Nowruz 1390!!!

Happy Persian New Year, Sal-e noe mobarak! I set my 7-seen table finally this morning. I want everyone to notice my happy mug which contains some wheat cat grass. The one I try to make from lentil, didn't turn out very well since I remembered to start doing it 10 days ago. The weather today was surprisingly amazing. I received some chocolate as eidi (which was a nice surprise too and from someone whom I was trying to be mad at), played squashed with some friends, then went swimming. As I was swimming in the quiet pool, I started thinking that I should be very grateful for this nice facility on campus and should take more advantage of it. I was happy but by the end of the day, I couldn't help it wonder about some stuff in my life. More thinking and analyzing does not help either; Some cry does though. At least I feel better now.
